I like Death. I like cooking. I like the Cubs. After the onion of a season they had, it just takes some celery and a carrot to make mirepoix. And that's enough to drive someone to the drink.

The restaurant had one of these in the knife drawer, and it was a much fought-over tool, eventually going missing. I'd never heard of the brand before, and it took me until this weekend to track one down, but I absolutely love this knife. Without a doubt, the best paring knife I've ever used, and I have used this model a lot (how many hundreds of onions did I peel before this thing went missing?)

There's just so much to like here! Without a doubt, the best live show I've seen since Deerhoof at the Scala in '06, and the Dukes' drummer just might be the John Bonham of his generation.
